- Moisture and Warmth:
- Organic Matter:
- Poor Ventilation:
- Common Areas for Mould Growth:
Washing machines, especially front-loaders, are prone to moisture buildup, especially after a wash cycle. The warm, damp environment, combined with the lack of ventilation, encourages mould growth.
Soap residue, dirt, and other organic materials left behind after washing clothes can serve as food for mould.
When the washing machine door is left closed, moisture can become trapped, creating a humid environment that promotes mould growth.
Mould often appears in the rubber seals around the door, detergent drawers, and the inner drum of the machine.
- Prevention:
To prevent mould, keep the washing machine door open after use to allow the machine to air out, clean the detergent drawer regularly, and ensure the machine is dry before closing the door.
- Cleaning:
If you find mould, you can try cleaning it with a solution of bleach and water or vinegar and water, followed by a thorough rinse and drying.
If there is extensive mould, please contact Glen Dimplex.
- Locate the Transit Bolts: These bolts are usually located on the back of the washing machine and are designed to secure the drum during transportation.
- Identify the Correct Tool: You'll typically need a spanner or a socket wrench, and the most common size is 10mm.
- Unscrew the Bolts: Turn the bolts counterclockwise until they are loose enough to be removed.
- Remove the Bolts and Holders: Once the bolts are loose, you can remove them along with their holders.
- Cover the Holes: The washing machine should come with caps or covers to plug the holes left by the removed transit bolts.
- Retain the Bolts: It's a good idea to keep the transit bolts in a safe place, in case you need to move the washing machine again in the future.
