Moist Vanilla Cake
Ingredients:
- For the Cake:
o 1 ½ cups (190g) all-purpose flour
o 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
o 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
o 2 large eggs
o 1/2 cup (120ml) whole milk
o 1/4 cup (60ml) sour cream
o 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
o 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
o 1/4 teaspoon salt
- For the Frosting (optional):
o 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
o 1 ½ cups (190g) powdered sugar
o 1-2 tablespoons milk or cream
o 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:
1. Preheat and Prepare:
o Preheat your Technika Oven to 180°C using the Steam Bake function. This function adds moisture to the baking environment, which helps create a tender, moist cake.
2. Prepare the Cake Batter:
o In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
o In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
o Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.
o Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk and sour cream, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
o Pour the batter into a greased and floured 20cm round cake pan or line it with baking paper.
3. Bake the Cake:
o Place the cake pan in the preheated oven. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean and the cake springs back when lightly touched.
o The steam bake function will help the cake rise evenly and maintain moisture.
4. Cool and Frost:
o Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
o If desired, prepare the frosting by beating the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar and mix in vanilla extract. Add milk or cream as needed to achieve a spreadable consistency.
o Frost the cooled cake as desired.
5. Serve:
